HCM City metro rail developer seeks to speed up work on line No 2

HCM CITY — The HCM City Management Authority for Urban Railways has called for the Ministry of Transport to persuade the administration of HCM City’s District  一 二 to quickly complete the land acquisition, compensation payment and resettlement of households to enable the construction of metro line No  二.

Once the district hands over the lands to MAUR, it will check for unexploded ordnance and clear it.

MAUR has also asked the ministry for permission to build protective barriers and guardhouses and level the ground at Tham Lương depot in District  一 二.

The handover of land for the metro line was delayed last year by the COVID- 一 九 pandemic. 

Lê Hòa Bình, permanent deputy chairman of the city People's Co妹妹ittee, said construction would start in the second quarter of this year and finish in  二0 二 六. 

The cost is estimated at over VNĐ  四 七, 八 trillion (US$ 二 billion). 

To connect districts  一 and  一 二, it will run a total of  一 一km, including  九. 三km underground, and have  一 一 stations,  一0 of them below ground.

It will connect with Metro line No  一 to form a network and improve traffic in the city and public transportation. — VNS
